Pokka

Pokkaa tarvitaan lähdettäessä tekemään independent-elokuvaa. Elokuvarahoituksen kurssi ja tieto suurimmista elokuvien rahoittajista Suomessa on tuonut tuottajaksi haluavalle edes jonkinlaista varmuutta tahtoa lähteä työskentelemään pitkien elokuvien pariin. Silti takaraivossa on huutanut pelästynyt ääni alan epävarmuudesta ja muistuttanut, että isojen rahojen käsittely ja eri osastoille suuntaaminen ei ole helppoa. Epävarmana ihmisenä tuntuukin uskomattomalta, että löytyy ihmisiä, joilla on pokkaa ja uskallusta lähteä tekemään independent-elokuvaa ilman säätiöiden tukia tai alan ammattilaisten osaamista.

Wikipedian mukan independent-elokuva tai indie-elokuva tarkoittaa yleensä pienen budjetin elokuvaa, jonka tuottaa pieni elokuvastudio. Viime viikolla koulullamme luennoimassa käyneet Mitä meistä tuli -elokuvan ohjaaja-käsikirjoittaja Miika Ullakko ja tuottaja Tianyi Pan osoittivat, ettei indie-elokuvan budjettia voi aina edes kuvailla pieneksi; Mitä meistä tuli kun kuvattiin kokonaan pienillä sponsoriavustuksilla ja tekijöiden omalla rahalla. Miesten tuotantoyhtiötä ei voitu huomioida säätiöiden tukien hakijaksi, koska tekijöillä ei ollut tarvittavaa koulutusta eikä heitä näin voitu luokitella ammattilaisiksi. Kaikesta huolimatta elokuva tehtiin ja mutkien kautta se päätyi Suomessa teatterilevitykseen.

Olen usein ollut huolissani tulevaisuuteni työllistymisestä ja arvioinut, ettei minusta ehdi kehittyä ammattilaista neljän opiskeluvuoden aikana. On huojentavaa nähdä, että ammattilaiseksi voi kehittyä muuallakin kuin koulussa, kunhan tekemässään asiassa osaa olla pitkäjänteinen ja uskoa itseen riittää. Kaikista parasta on kuitenkin verrata viime kesän ja tämän hetken tuottajaosaamistani ja huomata, että jotain on tullut opittua. Ehkä se pokkakin löytyy vielä ajan myötä.
